Baby Bedding Patterns and Palettes
By Anita Winter
Pale blues, pinks and yellows are usually associated with baby's rooms. While some people like traditional palettes others opt for sophisticated and modern colors for their baby's room. Knowing if you are having a boy or a girl can help you and everyone else choose kids furniture, kids bedding sets, kids accent rugs, clothing and toys before baby is born. However, with more parents opting to wait until their baby is born, it's great to have baby bedding that accommodates both boy or girl. The collegiate baby bedding sets is another option for the die hard college family.
Contemporary styles, retro designs and modern color palettes are the aim for most retailers. Browns as the base color mixed with mint greens and blues doesn't necessarily say boy or girl. It's really what the parent wants. The retro fancy block crib bedding and navy nursery sets are a great example of using a modern design and neutral color palette to decorate a baby's room. As baby grows, this bedding can easily transition into use with a toddler bed or kids bed. Repeating the pattern throughout the room will unify a multifunctional space and give a cohesive, clean look.
If you have a room that serves as a multifunctional space, you'll need to think about how paint, bedding and accessories can work for that space. Depending on the size of your home, you may not be able to have the space to have an extra bedroom or office room, so baby rooms may serve as a guest room or office space as well as a place to put baby to sleep, store toys and clothes. The traditional Old World Crib converts into a daybed which grows with your child's needs.
Cradles are another furniture option to consider. The Old World Cradle has hand-painted filigree that will look stunning in any traditional bedroom or nursery. Cradles are more portable than cribs because these can be moved in and out of rooms easily.
Baby bedding for these cradles can be more expensive but they are classic and sophisticated heirloom pieces that will be worth the extra cost. The Churchill bedding is reminiscent of bedding that you would put in a master bedroom. Black and gold color gives a stately look yet the comfort is fit for any delicate baby. The Olympia cradle bedding is another example of bedding that can work well for girl or boy. Black and white is in style and proves to be a very classic palette.
Sticking to classy neutral color palettes and modern patterns will allow an easy transition from baby to toddler without the work of having to redesign and repaint a room.
